About AWAN
African Women Agribusiness Network Uganda with support from Danchurch Aid is implementing the Market Access Project for Smallholder Farmers (MAPS) in three districts of Katakwi, Amuria and Kapelebyong. The project promotes adoption of market led organic production and increased access to markets and business development services among the smallholder farmers engaged in organic production. AWAN is therefore looking for an experienced facilitator to support selected lead farmers in organic production and certification readiness.
Academic requirements: University degree in Agriculture or related field with specific training in organic production and certification.
Experience: At least 3 years of experience supporting farmers and/or enterprises in organic production and certification readiness.
Period: 3 months
Scope of Work.
- Demonstrated knowledge with Organic production and certification and associated requirements and standards.
- At least 3 years’ experience in supporting producers, companies and processors to obtain & maintain Organic certification.
- Developing training materials for lead farmers in organic production in local languages.
- Estabslhing Internal Control System (ICS) manual and making actionable recommendations.
- indetifying available organically certificed agro-inputs
- Supporting the team to prepare for certification audit
- Conducting random spot checks of registered farmers to assess compliance to organic farming principles and practices.
- Conducting training of farmers and field staff on organic certification standards and principles.
